After you’ve had a chance to check out the Salon du livre Queer entre les couvertures\/QBTC book fair 2017, stroll down Ste. Catherine Street to L’Eugu\u00e9lionne, librairie f\u00e9ministe for the Montreal launch of poet Trish Salah’s new edition of LYRIC SEXOLOGY VOL. 1<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Chances are you\u2019ve read Trish\u2019s poetry that \u201cmakes a perfect mess of so much human experience that’s been too tidily categorized\u201d (Michael V. Smith). Drawing on personal history and theory, anthropological and psychoanalytic archives, her lyric and language poetry will be your summer reading, we hope.<\/p>\n

Metonymy\u2019s edition (originally published in the US by Roof Books in 2014) includes a new cover design by local artists Kai Yun Ching and Wai-Yant Li as well as some new poems. This, combined with Trish\u2019s always thoughtful stage presence, means you won\u2019t want to miss this event.<\/p>\n

Trish will be joined by local writers Oliver Pickle and Eli Tareq Lynch.<\/p>\n

About the authors:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Born in Halifax, Trish Salah is the author of Wanting in Arabic<\/em> (TSAR 2002, 2013) and Lyric Sexology Vol. 1<\/em> (Roof 2014, Metonymy 2017) and co-editor of special issues of Canadian Review of American Studies<\/em> 35.2 (2005) and TSQ: Transgender Studies Quarterly<\/em> 1.4 (2014). The 2013 edition of Wanting in Arabic<\/em> won the Lambda Literary Award for Transgender Fiction. At the University of Winnipeg she organized the conferences Writing Trans Genres: Emergent Literatures and Criticism and Decolonizing and Decriminalizing Trans Genres. Currently an assistant professor of Gender Studies at Queen\u2019s University, she is a member of the editorial boards of TSQ<\/em>, Eoagh<\/em>, and Topia<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Oliver Pickle is a Montreal-based, trans-identified writer, publisher, and editor. They are the author of Metonymy Press’ first book, She Is Sitting in the Night: Re-visioning Thea’s Tarot<\/em>. Their work has also appeared in the Lambda Award\u2013winning The Collection: Short Fiction from the Transgender Vanguard<\/em> (Topside Press, 2012) and make\/shift<\/em> magazine, among other publications. Oliver released Gays in the Workplace<\/em> in 2011 and is currently working on a book of short stories.<\/p>\n

Eli Tareq Lynch is a Montreal-based Arab poet. They have work upcoming in THEM<\/em>, Prism International<\/em>, the Shade Journal<\/em>, and in Frog Hollow Press’ City Series Chapbook<\/em> (MTL edition). They are currently working on launching a Montreal-based queer journal without a name and are generally a happy person unless you catch them before 10am.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
