Metonymy Press and Massy Books present a free afternoon reading event featuring Lambda Literary Award\u2013winning poet Trish Salah (Wanting in Arabic<\/i>, Lyric Sexology Vol. 1<\/i>) and Vancouver-based author Hazel Jane Plante (Little Blue Encyclopedia (for Vivian)<\/i>, forthcoming from Metonymy Press).<\/p>\n
Born in Halifax, Trish Salah is the author of\u00a0Wanting in Arabic<\/i>\u00a0(TSAR 2002, 2013) and\u00a0Lyric Sexology Vol. 1\u00a0<\/i>(Roof 2014, Metonymy 2017) and co-editor of special issues of\u00a0Canadian Review of American Studies<\/i>\u00a035.2 (2005) and\u00a0TSQ: Transgender Studies Quarterly<\/i>\u00a01.4 (2014). The 2013 edition of\u00a0Wanting in Arabic\u00a0<\/i>won the Lambda Literary Award for Transgender Fiction. At the University of Winnipeg she organized the conferences Writing Trans Genres: Emergent Literatures and Criticism and Decolonizing and Decriminalizing Trans Genres. Currently an assistant professor of Gender Studies at Queen\u2019s University, she is a member of the editorial boards of\u00a0TSQ, Eoagh<\/i>,\u00a0and\u00a0Topia<\/i>.<\/p>\n
Hazel Jane Plante is a queer trans librarian, cat photographer, and writer. In a previous life, she co-founded a micro-press, co-edited a little literary journal, co-hosted a podcast, and released lo-fi albums under the name Sparse. She currently lives in Vancouver on the unceded traditional territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations.<\/p>\n
