Join Shanice Nicole and Kezna Dalz, the creators of DEAR BLACK GIRLS, for an afternoon of reading, storytelling, snacks, and other fun family activities.<\/p>\n

This is a free event. There will be copies of the children’s book Dear Black Girls for sale from Saga Bookstore.<\/p>\n

DEAR BLACK GIRLS is a letter to all Black girls. Every single day poet and educator Shanice Nicole is reminded of how special Black girls are and of how lucky she is to be one. Illustrations by Kezna Dalz support the book\u2019s message that no two Black girls are the same but they are all special\u2014that to be a Black girl is a true gift. In this celebratory poem, Kezna and Shanice remind young readers that despite differences, they all deserve to be loved just the way they are.<\/p>\n

Let’s keep each other safe! We strongly encourage adults in attendance to wear masks.<\/p>\n

DEAR BLACK GIRLS est une lettre d\u2019amour adress\u00e9e \u00e0 toutes les filles noires. Chaque jour, la po\u00e9tesse et \u00e9ducatrice Shanice Nicole se rappelle combien les filles noires sont sp\u00e9ciales et combien elle a de la chance d\u2019\u00eatre l\u2019une d\u2019elles. Les illustrations de Kezna Dalz renvoient au message du livre, \u00e0 savoir qu’il n’y a pas deux filles noires identiques, mais qu’elles sont toutes sp\u00e9ciales et qu’\u00eatre une fille noire est un v\u00e9ritable don. Dans ce po\u00e8me de c\u00e9l\u00e9bration, Kezna et Shanice rappellent aux jeunes lecteur\u00b7rice\u00b7s.<\/p>\n
